On April 28, SOWF families, USSOCOM officials, SOWF Board of Directors and Ambassadors, local dignitaries, friends of the organization and generous sponsors assembled at Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club in Tampa to Honor America’s Finest: Their Service, Sacrifice, Legacy and Families. This fundraising dinner was held to honor Special Operations Personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
Featured speakers included SOWF Chairman, General (Ret) “Tony” Thomas III, General (Ret) Clay Hutmacher, President and CEO of SOWF, and our guest speaker, General (Ret) Stan McChrystal. SOWF student graduate speaker, Gold Star child, Sidney Dyer, shared some incredibly impactful thoughts with her emotional talk centered on memories of her dad, Chief Warrant Officer Two Scott W. Dyer, who died on October 11, 2006, in Banditemur, Afghanistan, from injuries suffered during combat operations, as well moving insight regarding her educational journey and impressive future professional plans.
SOWF is truly appreciative to all who supported this meaningful gathering, as well as to all who traveled from several different distances to attend. Special recognition goes out to SOWF board member, Tom Arthur, who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the evening. Based on collective involvement, SOWF was fortunate to raise substantial funds, which will be directed to the educations of the surviving children we serve. Thank you all for making this a special night.
