Special Operations Warrior Foundation is proud to have received its 14th consecutive 4 Star (the highest) Rating from Charity Navigator. This rating is based on transparency and accountability of funds.
In a letter written to SOWF President/CEO, Major General Clayton Hutmacher, Michael Thatcher, CEO of Charity Navigator, writes:
“Based on the most recent information available, we have issued a new rating for your organization. We are proud to announce Special Operations Warrior Foundation has earned our thirteenth consecutive 4-star rating. This is our highest possible rating and indicates that your organization adheres to sector best practices and executes its mission in a financially efficient way. Attaining a 4-star rating verifies that Special Operations Warrior Foundation exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in your area of work. Less than 1% of the charities we evaluate have received at least 14 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Special Operations Warrior Foundation outperforms most other charities in America. This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator sets Special Operations Warrior Foundation apart from its peers and demonstrates to the public its trustworthiness.”
SOWF remains dedicated to our mission of supporting the families of our fallen and wounded special operations personnel and committed to being responsible stewards of the donations we receive from our generous supporters. SOWF promises to continue to uphold our duties to both the community we serve and to our donors.

The Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 charitable organization, and is all privately funded. We are generously supported with financial gifts from private citizens, corporations, family foundations, and events. SOWF participates in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), State employee campaigns, and corporate employee giving campaigns. We accept gifts from personal estates, trusts, and wills.
Special Operations Warrior Foundation does not receive funding from the federal or state government.
