Chris Thompson, a former Green Beret, and his wife Rebecca, were selected to win a $5,000 shopping spree at Academy Sports + Outdoors in Texas, awarded to them based on their selfless service and commitment to the Veteran population at Texas A&M. They agreed to participate however, in a twist, only if the items retrieved would instead be donated to families of the fallen.
The Thompsons reached out to SOWF, specifically our Scholarship and Family Outreach Counselors, who in turn selected two families in need: one near Texas A&M, the other residing in Colorado.
Our sincere thanks go out to Chris, his wife Rebecca, and Academy Sports + Outdoors, for their generous gesture – a sign of gratitude that filled up for our families.
