SOWF is grateful to be supported by a myriad of unique and challenging fundraising endeavors, and the annual Swim4Freedom in Fontana, WI is an exciting example of both.
This coming August 7th, swimmers will gather on the shores of Lake Geneva for the 14th rendition of Swim4Freedom, a demanding swim (either solo or as part of a relay) over 3.1 miles of Lake Geneva, WI from Williams Bay Beach to Fontana Beach – all while raising money for SOWF.
In the small glow of the early morning light, swimmers and their families will gather around to hear Steele Whowell, the event director, as he explains the course and then prepares swimmers for the start of the competition. Swimmers have a total of three (3) hours to complete their journey and are greeted by families, friends, and supporters of SOWF as they reach Gordy’s Marine.
Following the swim, participants, along with participants, gather for a beachside party to celebrate their respective accomplishments, enjoying a BBQ complete with hotdogs, burgers, and the opportunity to win raffle prizes.
SOWF is extremely thankful to Gordy’s Marine, Steele Whowell, the swimmers, and volunteers who have been part of this 14-year effort. A big thank you also goes out to all sponsors for their involvement – we’re truly appreciative!
