About MISSION BBQ:
MISSION BBQ opened its doors for business on September 11, 2011, 10 years after the world
changed. We believe there is nothing more American than BBQ. And nobody more American
than the brave men and women who have sworn to protect and serve Our Communities and Our
Country. We do what we do for the love of our soldiers, firefighters, police officers, and first
responders—all our loved ones in service. We set across this great land from Texas to Kansas
City, the Carolinas to St. Louis...to discover the secrets of great BBQ. Every day we strive to
serve you authentic BBQ made from the freshest, most delectable ingredients, and serve it to you
in a patriotic dining room filled with tributes to those who’ve made Our Country great, given to
us by the people who earned them. Stop by at 12 noon as we sing Our National Anthem.
Everyday.

About Special Operations Warrior Foundation:
Special Operations Warrior Foundation was started in 1980 with a battlefield promise to provide
college educations for the 17 children left behind by the eight men killed during the daring
attempt to rescue the American hostages being held in Iran. Today, Special Operations Warrior
Foundation (SOWF) ensures full financial assistance for a post-secondary education, as well as
tutoring and educational counseling, to all children of special operations service members who
lose their lives in the line of duty. SOWF also provides immediate financial assistance to all
severely wounded and hospitalized special operations service members.

SOWF has been there since day one of my associate degree.

They have always made sure I got what I needed for my living expenses as well as my semester expenses. They not only have given me financial stability when I needed it the most, but also moral and emotional support. If it wasn’t for SOWF I wouldn’t be the professional teacher that I am today. For every success that I made and continue to make in my life, SOWF will be there at the top of the list for all of the thanks and recognition that they deserve for helping me carve my future.

SOWF provided me with the opportunity to be more engaged

in my studies rather than worrying about jobs and extracurricular work to pay for schooling. In addition, I was able to invest my time in leadership positions which have taught me so much as a person.

I cannot begin to express my gratitude,

knowing throughout the college admissions process, that the financial burden of college was no longer on our family. I am forever thankful for all the incredible things SOWF does for military personnel and their families. I am proud to be attending my dream school, the University of Chicago, because of all the Foundation does to honor those who have given their lives.
