Worthe S. Holt Jr. MD, MMM

Dr. Worthe S. Holt Jr. is an experienced leader and expert in both clinical and administrative healthcare, as well as military operations, aviation, healthcare, cyber, intelligence, and international relations. Dr. Holt currently serves on the Board of Directors of Puget Technologies, a banking investment firm focused upon acquisitions and empowering innovative companies in multiple arenas. He is also a Trustee of Franklin College and continues to staff the St Francis Family Practice Residency Program in Indianapolis where he provides part-time urgent care and primary care services as well.

Dr. Holt recently retired as a Chief Medical Officer for Wellvana Health, a leader in building and operating physician-led, high-performing, clinically integrated networks across the United States. Initially serving as both CEO and CMO, more recently Holt focused exclusively upon the CMO role. Prior to Wellvana, Dr. Holt served as Vice President, Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Humana, Inc. Holt provided leadership, strategic and operational expertise, working nationally to support business development, independent physician integration, clinical care delivery, and value-based methodologies consistent with healthcare’s quadruple aim. Dr. Holt has also provided clinical operations insight into several merger and acquisition opportunities. He completed his undergraduate studies, medical degree, and residency in Family Medicine at Indiana University, and his Masters in Medical Management at Tulane University. Dr. Holt also completed a Faculty Development Fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Holt has 40 years of care delivery and administrative experience including VP/COO roles at both hospitals and health systems in Indiana, as well as residency directorships. Additionally, Holt has served as President of the Indiana Medical Licensing Board and is a Past President of the Indiana Academy of Family Physicians.

Holt’s experience also includes Major General (Ret), Special Assistant to the Commander, and Deputy Chief of Staff, United States Africa Command. In that role, he provided policy representation on behalf of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. This included direct contribution to the development of U.S. National Security policies and their execution as well as negotiations with U.S. Ambassadors and host nation political and military leadership. The mission of United States Africa Command is to promote common interests throughout the world to strengthen security, support universal rights and population health, promote the rule of law, respond to crises, deter transnational threats, counter violent extremist organizations, counter illicit activities, support the State Partnership Programs, and promote respect for human rights. Previously, Holt has served as a Fighter Pilot / Physician (F-16, F-4) and Adjutant General – Air in the United States Air Force / Minnesota and Indiana Air National Guard. He holds an Air Medal for combat operations and The Legion of Merit.

His other interests include aviation, coaching high school ice hockey, marathon running, water/snow skiing, equestrian activities, and music. He lives with his wife, Marie Holt, DDS in Indianapolis, as well as in Aspen/ Snowmass, and has two adult sons who, with their families, are pursuing careers in law.
