Worthe S. Holt Jr., MD, MMM
Major General, USAF Retired

Dr. Worthe S. Holt Jr. is a distinguished  military aviator, physician, and healthcare executive with more than 4 decades of leadership experience across clinical medicine, healthcare administration and national defense.

As Special Assistant to the Commander, and Deputy Chief of Staff, United States Africa Command, Major General Holt provided policy representation on behalf of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, developing and executing U. S. National Security policies and engaging with U.S. Ambassadors and host nation leaders. A Command Fighter Pilot (F-16, F-4), Chief Flight Surgeon, and Adjutant General – Air in the United States Air Force / Minnesota and Indiana Air National Guard, He holds an Air Medal for combat operations and The Legion of Merit. 

In the private sector,  Dr. Holt served as Vice President, Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Humana, Inc., where he provided leadership, strategic and operational expertise, working nationally to support business development, independent physician integration, clinical care delivery, and value-based methodologies. Dr Holt has also provided clinical operations insight into several merger and acquisition opportunities. He completed his undergraduate studies, medical degree, and residency in Family Medicine at Indiana University, and his Masters in Medical Management at Tulane University.  Dr. Holt also completed a Faculty Development Fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Holt has direct patient care delivery and administrative experience including VP/COO roles at both hospitals and health systems in Indiana, as well as residency directorships. Additionally, Holt has served as President of the Indiana Medical Licensing Board and is a Past President of the Indiana Academy of Family Physicians.

 Dr Holt has built a reputation for guiding organizations and missions with clarity, discipline, and purpose. He is noted for a thoughtful approach to complex challenges and a commitment to serving others.  Dr Holt maintains entrepreneurial interest in the mental health services industry, and continues to provide part-time urgent care and primary care services as well.  

His other interests include aviation, auto racing, ice hockey, marathon running, water/snow skiing, equestrian activities and guitar.  He lives with his wife, Marie Holt, DDS in Indianapolis, Indiana and has two sons who are practicing law and enjoying family life.
