Major General Dan Walrath, USA, Retired

Dan Walrath has over 33 years of service in the U.S. Army where he commanded from platoon to theater Army level and provided tactical, operational and strategic leadership in both training and combat environments. His service included six years of operational deployments to Panama, Haiti, Kosovo, Jordan, Iraq and Afghanistan. He spent the majority of his career in the 75th Ranger Regiment and his service culminated with command of U.S. Army South, overseeing actions of all Army forces operating in the Latin American region in support of the National Defense Strategy.

Growing up in Pensacola on the Emerald Coast of Northwest Florida, Dan is an avid SCUBA diver, enjoys kayaking and sailing, and plans to learn how to surf. He and his wife Christine of over 25 years also enjoy boating in Washington’s Puget Sound and catching Dungeness crab and salmon. They have three children – a future Army aviator and astronaut, a future actress and a future mathematician. Dan is also a Wounded Warrior who manifests resilience, perseverance and holistic fitness.

Dan holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the United States Military Academy and a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College.
