Greetings from Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF). I recently joined the SOWF board of directors, coincidentally about the same time when both the Foundation and I, with my former teammates, celebrated different special 40-year anniversaries. The Foundation was conceived in 1980. And, in 1980, we pulled off the “Miracle on Ice,” a monumental upset over the Soviet team at the Lake Placid Winter Olympics – going on to win gold. I look forward to my new role, which is partly to share our mission with the public, through social media messaging. I invite you to follow me!

As you supported me and my teammates during our amazing run, we ask that you consider rallying around our SOWF efforts to help surviving children, surviving spouses, families and the wounded. We battled on the ice for each other and our country. My job was to guard the net. Special Operations Personnel put their lives on the line for us, some making the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms. As Coach Herb Brooks told us on that memorable night in 1980, “Great moments are born from great opportunity.”
