This past weekend, The New York Yankees hosted “Military Appreciation Day.” The Yankees and Managing Partner, Hal Steinbrenner (former SOWF board member), once again generously provided hospitality to our organization and nearly 40 guests filled the owner’s suite to enjoy the afternoon game vs. the Kansas City Royals.
Pre-game festivities featured a brief video of SOWF’s new Spouse Program, which was followed by a check presentation involving SOWF’s President and CEO, Major General (Retired) Clay Hutmacher. Robert Irvine, Founder and Chairman of the Robert Irvine Foundation, along with his wife and Robert Irvine Foundation board member, Gail Kim and Judy Otter, President of the Robert Irvine Foundation, presented SOWF with a check for $100,000. Neil and Amanda Friedman of the Friedman Family Foundation, both longtime supporters of SOWF, also presented MG (Ret) Hutmacher with a significant donation.
SOWF would like to express our sincere gratitude to The Steinbrenner Family and The New York Yankees for all their support over the years – their contributions have impacted many surviving children, surviving spouses and the families we serve – we are truly appreciative. You continue to make a difference.
Thank you, also, to all who joined us at the game, we’re thankful you took the time to travel from out-of-state to be there and join in on the celebration. Was quite a day, and the Bronx Bombers won: 5 – 2.
