Special Operations Warrior Foundation

Expands Educational Programs Eligibility to

Children of ALL Medal of Honor Recipients

(November 16, 2020) – Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF) has expanded eligibility to their fully funded scholarship and education programs, to school-aged children of ALL Medal of Honor recipients. The addition of school-aged scholarships for Medal of Honor recipients will have no impact to our commitment and the support we provide for Special Operations personnel who lose their life in the line of duty.

“Our SOWF Board of Directors were unanimous in their support of our nation’s Medal of Honor recipients, a testament to these heroes selfless acts of bravery,” said Major General (Retired) Clay Hutmacher, President and CEO of Special Operations Warrior Foundation.

Over the course of forty (40) years, SOWF has evolved to provide fully funded educations, “cradle to career,” to the surviving children of Special Operations Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps) who lose their lives in the line of duty.

Since 1980, SOWF has added over 1,500 surviving children of Special Operations personnel, including some children of Medal of Honor recipients. 389 have graduated college and there are currently over 900 children eligible whom SOWF has committed to fully fund through college graduation.

As good stewards of our mission, SOWF recently received its 15th consecutive 4-Star rating from Charity Navigator, placing the organization in the top 1% of the non-profits Charity Navigator evaluates.
