2026 Operation EPIC Mentor
If there is one thing I have learned in my short life, it is that life is full of moments that define, shape, and influence the trajectory of your life. Life is also full of choices, where an individual chooses and is chosen. One particular moment in my life that I am humbled to have been chosen is as a mentor for Special Operation Warrior Foundation’s 2026 EPIC.
When I was chosen as a mentor for EPIC; I was terrified and thrilled and honored and doubtful. My only fear was the thought of letting down an institution that loved on me through several hard, defining moments.
This fear brings me to my second moment; I was chosen and brought in as part of a team that was dedicated to reaching out to high schoolers of this generation and do the same thing they did for me. To help them chase their dreams, to discover their dreams, and to cheer them on in their pursuit. For me, this opportunity to work with my fellow mentors, SOWF staff, and with the kids was a full circle moment. I remember being them.
I remember how hard it is to grow up as well as realizing how hard it is to move through life; no matter what period of your life you are in. Being chosen and working alongside this team was a reminder that having a tribe around you is important; to cheer you on, remind you of your dreams, and of the pursuit. It is also a reminder to slow down and enjoy life.
