Welcome to EPIC
Educational Planning Information Conference
EPIC is the annual Educational Planning Information Conference in which SOWF brings together our rising high school junior and senior students from around the country to provide the information and resources necessary for them to feel confident and successful in their future planning, including the college application process. This conference is hosted at the University of South Florida, fully immersing the students in the college experience while providing them with an environment of learning and engagement so that each student may have a better understanding of the college experience and foster life-long friendships and mentors.
Topics Covered
1. College preparedness topics from a former dean of admission, including:
- Understanding your best college fit.
- Types of institutions.
- Understanding what you have to offer.
- How to get from where you are to where you want to be.
- The agendas of admissions officers.
- Creating your personal essay.
2. Understanding SOWF programs available.
3. Setting and achieving goals and how to cope with anxiety as a high achiever.
4. Beginning finance and budgeting.
5. Understanding your personal brand and social media presence.
6. USF campus tour and and presentation from their student engagement office.
7. A panel consisting of SOWF graduates for students to engage and ask questions regarding their college experiences.
8. Additional activities meant to foster and grow lifelong friendships.
