THE NEW YORK YANKEES CELEBRATE MILITARY APPRECIATION DAY WITH SPECIAL OPERATIONS WARRIOR FOUNDATION

Saturday, July 13th was Military Appreciation Day at Yankee Stadium. Special Operations Warrior Foundation is honored to have been a part of the day’s events.
Kicking off the pre-game ceremonies was a spectacular parachute jump from the Army Special Forces’ Jump Team, the Golden Knights.
The Yankees then honored two of Special Operations Warrior Foundation’s Gold Star Families.
Army Sgt. First Class John Taylor gave his life in Afghanistan in 2003 while serving in 3rd Special Forces Group. His wife, Cindy and their sons Drew and Bailey were in attendance. Drew is currently in high school and Bailey is studying Broadcast Journalism at Waldorf University.
Also honored, was Jessica Rosenow, the daughter of Army Master Sgt. Mark Coleman who gave his life in Afghanistan in 2010 while serving with the 1st Special Forces Command. Jessica graduated from Saint Martin University with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She was accompanied by her husband, David.
CohnReznick Cares, represented by Frank Longobardi, Patricia Synhorst, Jack and Marybeth Callahan, and the Freidman Family, represented by Neil Friedman and his daughter Chloe, each presented generous donations to Special Operations Warrior Foundation. Accepting on behalf of the Foundation is Yankees CEO, Hal Steinbrenner, SOWF Board Member, General Doug Brown, USA, Ret., SOWF Emeritus Board, and the Taylor and Rosenow Families.
The presentation was followed by the ceremonial first pitch, thrown by Brigadier General Kevin Leahy, Deputy Commander of the U.S. Army’s 7th Infantry Division.
