Colonel Michael Mora, USA, Retired
Mike Mora has thirty years of international, national, and regional leadership, operations, logistics, human capital, and technical experience. He was a Senior Consultant at Deloitte in the Human Capital and Organizational Change Management practice. Currently, he is a senior leadership and operations trainer, training leaders on operational planning before overseas deployments. His most recent military experience was serving as the U.S. Army Special Operations Commander’s senior advisor and personal representative to the U.S. Army Futures Command. Mike has led teams as large as 3500 people, with as many as 25 direct reports. During his time at the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), he served as senior advisor to the Commander (4 Star) and provided research, policy recommendations, and candid advice for use at the highest levels of our government.
As Assessment Director, Mike oversaw the planning, programming, budgeting, and execution process for the USSOCOM Commander and the organization’s $13 Billion annual budget. While in the Special Operations community, Mike has also served in several key leadership, management, and operational roles with the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment at Ft. Campbell, KY. He planned, coordinated, resourced, and was accountable for the success of multiple Special Operations Aviation Task Forces in numerous operational and combat deployments across the globe. He led organizational change resulting in an unprecedented increase in operational capacity beyond the expected results. In each, Mike and his team executed highly complex operations, in demanding conditions, while achieving strategic results for our Nation. Mike entered military service in 1990 as an infantryman assigned to an airborne long-range surveillance detachment (Texas National Guard).
In 1994, Mike was commissioned as an Army Aviator and served in numerous leadership roles in the Army’s armored cavalry regiments from 1995-2001. This included assignments in the US, the Republic of Korea, and two deployments to Bosnia-Herzegovina. He was assessed and selected into Army Special Operations Aviation in 2001 where he served in various operations spanning multiple countries until his retirement in 2021. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor’s degree in business and a Master of Science in Management from Austin Peay State University. Mike currently lives in the Austin area with his wife and three sons.
